Hola! Today I'm sharing some pieces I've been keeping an eye on! Autumn is one of my favorite seasons because it reminds me that Christmas is just around the corner (10 Fridays away...but who's counting?)! I've promised myself to keep my wallet closed though. We have special things planned for Christmas so I'm trying my hardest to stay within budget! Still, all these pieces have me a little jittery at the "Place Order" button!

On another note, I just finished my first month rotation for Internal Medicine. It was another great experience! The team of residents and attending I got to work with was excellent. Even though we had a full ward everything ran smoothly and we learned so much throughout the whole process. The interesting part about rotating is that all those conditions and medications that you've spent years learning about are really quite different in real life. Your patient isn't going to appear with the exact same symptoms as you've memorized from the book and each patient is going to be different from the next. And each patient has his/her own treatment plan, one that works for them and needs to be constantly adjusted. It was rewarding to learn so much and have the opportunity to make decisions in my patients' care. We'll see what this next month in a different hospital has to offer...

Hola! I'm completely in love with this look and excited to share it with you guys! As you read in my last post (The Island Fall Edit), I've been preparing my wardrobe for fall. If you missed it, check it out for my tips on fall outfits for tropical weather. I've owned this skirt for maybe a year or two and have gotten so much use out of it! I've paired it with printed blouses, plain shirts like this one, and can even pair it with a sweater, tights and boots if I'm traveling to somewhere cold. It is definitely a versatile piece that's a staple in my closet. Today I paired it with this white button down and denim jacket for a more casual look. And can we have a moment for these shoes? They make my legs look so long and I am definitely on the petite side! I admit, they aren't the most comfortable but who said beauty was comfortable? Well, most of the time comfort is my number one styling factor but for legs like these I'll take the pain!

I'm currently in the second week of my Internal Medicine rotation. So far, so good. I'm lucky enough to have amazing residents who take their time to teach us and actually care that we're learning. Even though I miss all my kids from the Pediatrics rotation, its nice to be back in the hospital setting juggling many responsibilities. I hope these next weeks go smoothly! Even though I already have a specialty in mind, I'm keeping my mind open and enjoying the best from every specialty. Wish me luck!

The Tropical Fall Edit

Hi there! Long time no blog! As I explained on the blog's Facebook page, I've been busy with rotations but am finally back! As fall began a little while ago, I thought it would be fun to share how I prepare for the "change of seasons" while living on a tropical island. The coldest it gets here is around the high 70s and even that starts in December! All the while, my favorite bloggers and youtubers start changing their wardrobes and I feel left out! Here are some tips to keep up with the autumn/fall trends if you live in a tropical paradise like me!

ONE
Fall colors in fresh, breathable clothing
I would love to be wearing gorgeous knit sweaters, tights with over the knee boots, and huge scarves but if I did so I would die of a heat stroke! Instead I try to find items in fall colors like burgundy (midi skirt, dress for a night out, jersey dresstop, bag) or olive/khaki green (blouseskirt, v-neck shirt, off the shoulder topdress) made in breathable materials such as cotton. Plaid prints also start popping up in store but they tend to come in thicker materials. Look for ones that are lighter such as this one. You could also try using materials such as corduroy or suede for that fall feel.

TWO
Light layers
We've all seen those beautiful winter coats that just seem to make any fall/winter outfit look like a million dollars. Unfortunately, they are not a realistic option for someone living on a tropical island. What can you wear instead? Denim jackets, cardigans, bomber jackets, blazers or military jackets are  great options! If you keep whatever you're wearing underneath very light, like a cotton t-shirt, this is a fantastic way to pull together an outfit. If it gets too hot wrap it around your waist! Perfect for keeping the look and even accentuating your figure!

THREE
Fall lipstick and makeup
The easiest way to change your look this fall is to try darker lips! Its the simplest thing you can do to instantly make you look more fall appropriate. You all know I love my Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors and I'm loving the tone Infatuation for this upcoming fall! My all time favorite dark lip would have to be Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet. Its a gorgeous dark berry color that drys matte and lasts all night long, even through hamburgers! If you're looking to broaden your dark lips collection, check out this new Sephora Favorites: Gimme Some Bold Lip. It includes 6 bold lipsticks for $28! A great gift for a friend...or yourself! Be sure to pair your darker lip with a soft berry toned blush, like this one from Hourglass (Milani dupe here!), for a beautiful, put-together look.

What's your favorite way to revamp your wardrobe for the fall?
