The Inspiration
June 29, 2016
Hola! Today I thought I'd share with you the top 5 blogs I've been following for years. These are the 5 blogs that have always inspired me the most, be it in fashion, life, medical school...everything! It was hard to narrow down, so I added a few more down at the bottom! I hope that by sharing this, you can get a better idea of my style and what I would like to bring to The Girl on an Island. You can learn a lot about a person by the blogs they follow!
1. Brooklyn Blonde

By far my favorite fashion blogger is Helena Glazer Hodne from Brooklyn Blonde. I would describe her style as simple and classic, very similar to my own. As you can
tell by the name of her blog, she lives in Brooklyn, New York and through her
posts you can see how this influences her style and her blog. She shares posts
ranging from style to favorite Brooklyn spots to her adventure through pregnancy
and now motherhood! Her choice for fashion investments is her shoe collection,
which is AMAZING! If I could have any blogger's closet it would be her's, hands
down!
2. The Chriselle Factor

Chriselle Lim's blog The Chriselle Factor is one of the, if not the, most influential blogs in the fashion industry. She is the ultimate fashion business woman. She started off as a wardrobe stylist but has since been dedicated to her blog and youtube channel which feature both astonishing photography and videography. She has impecable taste and makes putting together complicated/layered outfits seem like a breeze! If you fall in love with her, you're sure to fall in love with her daughter Chloe! She is adorable and I'm lucky enough that Chriselle shares this adorableness through her snapchat (chrisellelim)!
3. A Little Bit of Lacquer

When I first found Laura's blog, A Little Bit of Lacquer, I
was just starting medical school and was searching for lifestyle/medical
student blogs written by an actual medical student. At that time Laura was a
medical student at Harvard writing the occasional post on
lifestyle, outfits of the day, and surviving medical school. Now
Laura is a Harvard Medical School graduate finishing up her intern year at
Harvard and on her way to a residency in Dermatology in Florida. She's also now
married and a mother of the two most delightful little girls I ever did see AND
she runs a successful blog! Oh, and did I mention she's Puerto Rican? Increíble!
(Incredible!)
4. Song of Style
What can I say about Aimee Song from Song of Style other than her style is THE BOMB. She's an interior designer with the most astonishing taste in fashion. She travels the world and continuously blows my mind with gorgeous outfits that I wish I could have hanging in my closet! Her latest trip to Italy still has me in love! Her instagram is a must follow! All that's left to say is, you're welcome!
5. Sincerely Jules

Jules from Sincerely Jules has an effortless style that can't be beat. Lucky for us,
she actually designs most of the clothes she wears and they're for sale at her site! I'm dying to
own anything from her collection! Everything just looks so comfortable and
easy!

Hello! My first blog post ever... Eek! I'm so excited to begin this journey! I have wanted to begin a blog for years but always found an excuse not to. Finding a name was the especially difficult part, but after going through countless options I took the plunge with The Girl on an Island because I think it will let me grow and share about almost anything, which is my purpose with this blog.
I am by no means a professional stylist or makeup artist. I'm just a medical student, and now rookie blogger, who loves a great deal, cheap clothes that look and feel more expensive and playing with makeup! I hope you all enjoy!

Hola! Mi primer blog post... Eek!
